Silbermond

Silbermond ("silver moon") is a German pop rock band from Bautzen, Saxony, consisting of Stefanie Kloß, Andreas Nowak, and brothers Johannes and Thomas Stolle.

The band members met in 1998 while participating in the music project Ten Sing. In 2000, they formed their own group and performed locally under the name JAST, derived from the initials of the members. In 2001, they changed their name to Silbermond and began focusing on songs in German.

In January 2004, Silbermond performed as the opening act for singer Jeanette Biedermann. They released their first single "Mach's dir selbst" followed by their debut album "Verschwende deine Zeit", which was certified 7× gold and platinum in Germany and Austria. The album included three additional singles, including their first top-five hit "Symphonie". At the end of 2004, the band went on tour and in April 2005 released their first concert DVD, "Verschwende deine Zeit – Live", which achieved gold status. In 2005, Silbermond performed at the Berlin installment of Live 8, appearing in the lineup between Green Day and Chris De Burgh.

In April 2006, the band released their second album "Laut gedacht", which debuted at number one on the German and Austrian album charts. The lead single, "Unendlich", reached the top ten, while the third single, "Das Beste", became their first number-one single. In July 2007, Silbermond performed at the German leg of Live Earth in Hamburg.

Their third album, "Nichts passiert", was released in March 2009 and became the first Silbermond album to debut at number one in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The album included the singles "Irgendwas bleibt", which became their second number-one hit, and "Krieger des Lichts", which reached the top ten in Germany. In 2009, Silbermond received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best German Act. Their fourth studio album, "Himmel auf", was released in 2012, reaching the top three in Germany and Austria, and was certified gold in Austria and 3× gold in Germany. Its title track was a top-five single in Germany.

In 2014, Silbermond released their first compilation, "Alles auf Anfang 2014–04", which reached the top ten in Austria and Switzerland and was certified gold by the BVMI. That year, the band collaborated with Band Aid 30 Germany on a remake of "Do They Know It's Christmas?", which became a number-one single in Germany. Stefanie Kloß also debuted as a coach on the television series "The Voice of Germany".

The band's fifth album, "Leichtes Gepäck", was released in November 2015 and recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. It reached the top five in Germany and Switzerland. In 2017, Kloß appeared on the fourth season of "Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert", the German adaptation of "The Best Singers".
